Meta Launches Campaign Spotlighting Texans Behind Its Data Center Investments

Meta launched a marketing campaign featuring firsthand accounts from residents and small business owners in Fort Worth, Temple and El Paso, spotlighting the community impact of its Texas data center investments.

Meta launched a marketing campaign built around firsthand accounts from residents and small business owners in Fort Worth, Temple and El Paso, according to an Aug. 25 announcement from the company. The campaign places particular emphasis on El Paso, site of Meta’s most recently announced Texas data center.

The company said the campaign shares stories from El Pasoans in their own words, describing how their lives or businesses have been positively affected by Meta’s presence in the community. The stories are intended to demonstrate that Meta’s commitments to the communities it invests in are lasting.

Among the voices featured are Chris, a facility engineer whose family roots are in mining and who is now building a career in advanced industry, and Genesy, general manager of Ardovino’s Pizza Restaurant, who said his business is seeing new growth because of Meta’s arrival in the area.

“Meta’s significant long-term investments in local communities support thousands of jobs, generate millions in tax revenue, and make possible the digital infrastructure that Texas businesses and families rely on every day,” a Meta spokesperson said. “These powerful testimonials spotlight the real benefits Meta’s investments deliver for Texans across the communities we’ve invested in.”

Alongside the testimonials, Meta published a resource page for reporters and residents outlining how the company invests in jobs, infrastructure and communities across the three Texas cities, gathering answers to frequently asked questions in one location. The campaign website says Meta has committed more than $12 billion across Texas and is putting nearly $1 billion into local infrastructure improvements in El Paso, including energy, roads, water and wastewater.

The three campuses the campaign covers are at different stages. The Fort Worth data center, representing more than $1.5 billion, has operated since 2017. The Temple facility, a $1.2 billion project, went live in July as Meta’s first AI-optimized data center. The El Paso campus, a $10 billion-plus development, remains under construction and is expected to reach one gigawatt of capacity by 2028, supporting more than 300 operational jobs, with more than 4,000 skilled trade workers on site at peak construction.

The El Paso project has drawn sustained local debate over its tax agreement, power supply and water use. The City Council voted 5-3 in June against beginning to terminate Meta’s 2023 incentive agreement, and in July adopted a data center policy framework that bars incentives for future projects but does not apply to Meta’s campus. The Public Utility Commission of Texas has yet to rule on the natural gas plant El Paso Electric is building to serve the site. Meta agreed on Aug. 10 to comply with Governor Greg Abbott’s data center standards, joining Amazon, Google and QTS.

Meta said the campaign website is live and that individual testimonials are available for download.
