TCEQ Open for 2027 Texas Environmental Excellence Awards Applications

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) announced that it is officially accepting applications for the 2027 Texas Environmental Excellence Awards (TEEA).

According to a June 17 announcement from the regulatory agency, the annual awards program honors individuals, organizations, and businesses that have implemented innovative and impactful projects to preserve and protect the state’s natural resources.

Presented in partnership with the Governor’s Office, the TEEA recognizes outstanding achievements across nine categories, including air quality, water conservation, waste reduction, and environmental education. Eligible applicants span a wide range of sectors, from public school districts and grassroots non-profit organizations to large corporations and individual civic leaders.

TCEQ officials noted that the selection committee prioritizes projects that demonstrate measurable environmental benefits, long-term sustainability, and community-wide collaboration.

The deadline to submit nominations for the 2027 award cycle is set for late September, with the official winners to be honored at a formal banquet during the TCEQ Environmental Trade Fair and Conference in Austin next spring. Agency leaders emphasized that celebrating these voluntary, localized stewardship efforts highlights how economic development and responsible environmental conservation successfully coexist across Texas.

More details on the submission guidelines, past winners, and specific category criteria are available via the agency’s dedicated TEEA application portal.
