The Texas Education Agency launched a public database tracking certified educators who have been disciplined for misconduct. According to a June 4 news release from the agency, the new Educator Misconduct Dashboard and an accompanying Student Protection Resource Center aim to increase transparency for parents and school districts.
The public dashboard displays disciplinary actions taken against educators by the State Board for Educator Certification. The database allows users to search for teachers who have had their certificates reprimanded, suspended, or revoked due to contract abandonment, testing violations, or inappropriate relationships with students.
Previously, looking up an educator’s disciplinary history required a manual search through individual credential profiles. TEA Commissioner Mike Morath said the digital tools are designed to streamline the hiring process for school administrators and protect students from harm.
The new resource center provides school districts with updated training materials, compliance checklists, and reporting guidelines for reporting suspected misconduct. The state agency developed the online platforms following legislative directives to improve campus safety across Texas public schools.
