TCEQ Names Tyler High School Science Teacher Ambassador of the Year

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality named high school physics and environmental science teacher Amanda Adair as its 2026 Ambassador of the Year.

According to a June 4 news release from the agency, the Tyler All Saints Episcopal School educator earned the honor through the Take Care of Texas program for sharing environmental resources and helping develop curriculum.

The award includes a $2,500 prize provided by corporate program sponsor Republic Services. Adair has participated in the program since its inaugural year and also serves as the head of the science department at her campus.

Take Care of Texas officials said the educator initiative focuses on equipping teachers with materials to spread environmental awareness throughout public and private school classrooms. TCEQ said applications for the next round of school ambassadors are open online through Aug. 7.
