The total reflects two separate actions. According to the release, the commission approved penalties of $1,995,426 against 55 regulated entities at its Oct. 21 meeting. In addition, the agency said, the executive director approved penalties totaling $176,648 against 38 entities on Oct. 20.
The agency said agreed orders were issued across seven enforcement categories: 18 for air quality, one for the Edwards Aquifer, three multi-media, 18 for municipal wastewater discharges, three for petroleum storage tanks, five for public water systems, and seven for water quality.
The release did not name the individual entities in the summary of the penalties. Agenda items from the Oct. 21 meeting can be viewed on the TCEQ website, the agency said.
