Governor Greg Abbott announced four Jobs and Education for Texans grants totaling $1,113,310 awarded to four schools in the Alamo area by the Texas Workforce Commission, according to an Aug. 27 news release from the commission.
The awards will support career and technical education training programs, TWC said, by helping the schools purchase and install equipment.
The equipment will initially train 202 students for high-demand occupations such as construction managers and registered nurses, among others, according to the release.
State officials noted that TWC Commissioner Representing the Public Brent Connett and local partners attended a big check ceremony marking the awards.
