Texas Secretary of State Expands Expedited “Texas Express” Business Filing Services

Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson announced an expansion of “Texas Express,” the agency’s expedited business filing service. The program now offers same-day and next-day processing for business formations and out-of-state registrations, moving beyond the initial service categories launched in late 2025.

The expansion of these services is designed to assist entrepreneurs and investors in navigating the administrative requirements of starting and maintaining a business in Texas’ rapidly growing economy. With more than 3 million active businesses currently operating in the state, the Secretary of State’s office says it is prioritizing the reduction of administrative delays that can hinder access to financing or commercial real estate.

This move toward operational efficiency aligns with broader state efforts to modernize state infrastructure, such as the Texas Department of Transportation’s recent move to 3D digital modeling to streamline highway construction, as reported by The Texas Dispatch on April 27, 2026.

Under the new guidelines, the Secretary of State’s office provides same-day processing for filings received by noon for a fee of $750 per document, while next-day service is available for $500. These expedited options now include critical milestones such as initial business formations, reinstatements, and amended registrations for out-of-state entities.

Secretary Nelson noted that formally creating a business is often a prerequisite for securing office space or making a first hire, and that these tools are intended to help businesses of all sizes—from first-time entrepreneurs to Fortune 100 companies—get to work more quickly.

The expansion builds on the initial launch of Texas Express in the fall of 2025, which originally focused on more complex filings such as certificates of conversion, mergers, and validations. By shortening the path to official registration, the Secretary of State’s office aims to reinforce Texas’ standing as a top destination for corporate relocation and domestic business growth.

“We are offering the option for Texas businesses to file as quickly as possible so they can get on with the business of business,” Secretary Nelson stated.
