Public Utility Commission of Texas Commissioner Courtney Hjaltman has been appointed to the Advisory Council to the Board of Directors of the Electric Power Research Institute, according to a Sept. 23 news release from the PUCT.
The appointment was made by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, the commission said.
Through the advisory council, leaders from government, business, finance, education and other stakeholder groups provide insight into the technological, economic and policy issues affecting the electric sector, according to the release. The council also helps ensure that EPRI’s research remains relevant and aligned with the public interest, the PUCT said.
“As the energy landscape evolves, strong collaboration is critical to meeting the needs of consumers and communities,” Hjaltman said in the release. “Texas is a leader in electric planning and innovation and I am honored to serve on EPRI’s Advisory Council where I can share these ideas and contribute to the future of the electric industry.”
The appointment places a Texas utility regulator on the council that advises EPRI’s board of directors. More information on the council is available in EPRI’s announcement, the PUCT noted.
